Motion is lotion, and meditative movement can help you reduce pain, feel better, and restore function. The practices have been proven safe for chronic pain situations and for elders. Harvard Medical School confirms that meditation and meditative movement can help manage and reduce pain and maintain and improve function.
Your natural resilience is a skill to be used. The key is remembering that "where attention goes, neural firing flows, and neural connection grows," in the words of Dr. Dan Siegel, clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA.
The rest is practice.
Our Teaching philosophy: We teach the art of play. Tai Chi and Qigong are "played" not unlike you play a musical instrument. But play means a lot of things. Here are some favorite examples of what we mean:
"How things play out."
"Is there play in the fit of components?"
"Well played!"
"A play for your attention."
"A part or role you play."
All of these speak to what life is doing at any given moment and how you can be in the play of energies. When you play Tai Chi and Qigong, you enjoy the whole of life!
